Kim Johnson
Illustrator
Kim Johnson’s creative journey began at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C., where she pursued graphic design. However, designing annual reports left her unfulfilled, leading her to follow her passion for animation. She contributed to beloved shows like The Nanny and The Rosie O’Donnell Show, before co-founding her own animation studio in New York City.
With her rich animation background, Kim transitioned into illustration, bringing a playful and dynamic energy to her work. Specializing in scene lighting, she masterfully blends color and light using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Her vibrant, light-infused illustrations, whether for book covers or articles, aim to be transformative, transporting viewers into imaginative worlds.
Kim's deep understanding of color, flow, and light allows her to create illustrations that captivate and engage. Her work radiates warmth and invites people to explore the depth and movement within each piece.
Today, Kim finds inspiration in her Connecticut backyard, where her childhood dream of forest rangering thrives amidst a bustling neighborhood inhabited by foxes, raccoons, bobcats, and turkeys.
